The benefits of digital dental imaging has never been better. These images produce excellent high-resolution images of your teeth, jaw bones, and surrounding soft tissues while significantly reducing the amount of patient exposure. Images appear instantly on screen eliminating the need for x-ray chemistry in the office environment. Waste is also significantly reduced supporting green initiatives in Grimsby. Dental images are important for immediate diagnosis of conditions that may lead to the decline of your health.
Digital radiography has many advantages over traditional dental x-rays:
- It’s faster,
- There’s up to 90 percent less radiation,
- We can enhance images in a variety of ways to improve viewing,
- Images can be stored electronically for instant retrieval in the future if needed,
- We avoid the chemical used in the traditional developing process.
How digital radiography works
With digital radiography, we use a small sensor connected directly to a computer instead of a film packet. Taking x-rays is faster because the sensor is merely moved from tooth to tooth; we don’t need to reload a film position-er for each image. It’s also faster because the x-rays are available immediately on the computer monitor with no development step in between. Digital x-ray exposure is shorter than taking conventional x-rays, the amount of x-ray radiation is reduced by up to 90 percent.
Digital x-rays allow us to see details and make adjustments that are a tremendous help in our diagnosis. We can also save images in our computer system for instant retrieval at a later date.
Our goal at Smile Town Dental Group in Grimsby is to prevent conditions from developing or, if already established, prevent them from advancing. We are pleased to share your images with you and the valuable diagnostic information they provide to enhance your understanding of treatment options.
Our digital x-rays render excellent high resolution images to assist us in diagnosing periodontal conditions that may affect your health. We will inform you if we see signs of this disease which has known links to heart and lung disease as well as stroke.
